PRE-CLASSES
for 5 - 7 years old
Students are introduced to the basic steps of ballet as well as the many elements of dance, preparing them to study ballet, tap and jazz when they are older.
Dress Requirements: leotard, tights, pink ballet shoes or black tap shoes
Hair: must be in a bun.

BALLET
for 8+ years old
Ballet is the foundation for quality dance training. Students study the basic ballet positions and steps through barrework and center.
Dress Requirements: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Hair: must be in a bun.
Class Levels Offered:
Ballet 1 · Ballet 2 · Ballet 3 · Ballet 4+ · Ballet 5**
+Ballet 4: All students must attend ballet twice per week. Pointe shoes are worn only by permission of instructor only.
**Ballet 5: All students must attend ballet twice per week. Students must be on pointe. Please note: Ballet 5 tuition is higher due to length of class.

JAZZ
for 7+ years old
Jazz encompasses a broad range of styles, including traditional Broadway to movie musicals to lyrical blues to contemporary funk and techno.
Dress Requirements: solid colored leotard, black jazz pants, jazz shoes.
Hair: long hair must be in ponytails; short hair must be off face.
Class Levels Offered:
Freshman 1 · Sophomore 1 · Junior 1 · Senior 1
Freshman 2 · Sophomore 2 · Junior 2 · Senior 2**

SPECIALTY JAZZ
"Jumps, Leaps and Turns"
This class is open to all students registered in Junior 2 Jazz, Senior 1 Jazz and Senior 2 Jazz as a 2nd weekly jazz class.

TAP
for 7+ years old
Tap is percussive and rhythmic dancing that is uniquely American. From vaudeville to Gene Kelly to Savion Glover, tap is fun.
Dress Requirements: camisole top, black jazz pants, tap shoes.
Hair: long hair must be in ponytails; short hair must be off face.
Class Levels Offered:
Freshman 1 · Freshman 2 · Sophomore · Junior · Senior**

HIP HOP
for 7+ years old
Street-style dance emerged in the 1980's. Popular today for commercial dance. Studying ballet and/or jazz along with Hip Hop is recommended.
Dress Requirements: camisole top, dance/athletic pants, white "adidas-style" court shoes.
Hair: long hair must be in ponytails; short hair must be off face.

MODERN DANCE
for 13+ years old
Modern Dance encompasses a wide range of styles from Jose Limon to Alvin Ailey and more contemporary styles of Momix and Twyla Tharp.
Dress Requirements: solid colored leotard, black jazz pants, jazz shoes.
Hair: long hair must be in ponytails; short hair must be off face.
This class is OPEN to students in Jr. & Sr. classes, 13 & up.

COST AND POLICIES for Youth Semester Classes
REGISTRATION: Registration deadline is August 25th. Pre-registration is required! Complete registration form in this brochure, and submit with payment. Registration without payment will not be processed. Registration is first-come-first-serve, so please register ON TIME!! Please note for Senior 2 Hip Hop, Senior 2 Jazz, Senior Tap and Ballet V: Students must participate in the full year in order to perform in the May recital. For more information, call 259-4122.
RECITAL DATES- Mandatory Dress Rehearsals for all Youth Students: Tues, May 12 - Act 1; Wed, May 13 - Act 2; Thurs, May 14 - whole show.
- Two Performances: Fri & Sat, May 15 & 16, 2009. All Youth Students perform in both shows.
- Please note that students who cannot attend all rehearsals and performances will not be able to perform.
RECITAL FEES for the Spring Performance: One Costume Fee Per Class Per Student. Payment Deadline is Friday, January 16, 2009.
All "Pre" Classes - $55 · All Freshman, Sophomore Classes and Ballet 1, 2, & 3 - $65 · All Junior, Senior Classes and Ballet 4 & 5 - $75
Please Note: If The Dance Center does not receive your costume payment by the deadline, no costume will be ordered and your child will not be able to perform in the end-of-year recital. Costume fees can be paid at anytime. Pay Early!!!! Final deadline is Jan. 16th, 2009.
